Peanut Butter Blossoms (not for the LGWP diet!)

We are deep in cookie dough these days for our last and final daughter's wedding!

Danielle & Johnny decided they wanted a cookie and flavored hot chocolate bar for their wedding so.....they were supposed to get a quadruple batch of four different kinds of cookie dough made at Christmas time.........did not happen. We decided that engaged kids are pretty much useless! They are too busy mooning over each other so much that they can't focus on anything. It took them about 4 hours just to do one batch of cookie dough!

Peanut Butter Blossoms:
Cream together-
1/2 cup butter
3/4 creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 brown sugar
1 egg
2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
Mix in-
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup flour
Dough will be a bit sticky
Roll into 1 inch balls, then roll balls in white sugar
Tip: crisscross the balls with a fork dipped in sugar, it adds a bit of sparkle:)
375 for 8-10 min.

I have another peanut butter cookie recipe on another post
Peanut Butter Crisscrosses
I love both recipes!

Other cookies on the menu:

(recipe on another blog post)

White chocolate chip, cranberry, macadamia nut
Chocolate fudge oatmeal pecan
(recipes to come!)

I just have one question...how am I supposed to be on the LGWP diet (Look Good in Wedding Pictures) when my freezer is full of 600 cookie dough balls calling my name everytime I pass the fridge?...LOL:)

The vendor experience

I had my first Nellie's Cottage vendor experience this weekend...talk about work!
I was invited by  the owners of the Stamp & Scrap Fest to participate in their show in Pasadena Texas.

Don't you love my new banner from Vista print?
I worked ALL week sorting through my scrapbook supplies, packing, gathering display baskets, ordering a new banner, planning booth design and NOT SLEEPING! I had no idea how the show would go, especially since I could only participate on one of the event days.
On Friday, I drove an hour & a half with my suburban loaded to the hilt. I unloaded and then spent about 6 hours arranging and decorating my booth space. Garment racks became walls with white fabric shower curtains attached. My scrapbook store at Nellie's Cottage is decorated with a scrapbooking clothesline of goodies.

Tables were arranged with album kits of all kinds. I scattered my cute vintage aprons around the booth and voila...a portable Nellie's Cottage came to life:) I drove the distance home and back again on Saturday morning with my trusty assistant Amy, who I couldn't do without!

How did it go?
Did my output of money, time and energy equal the results?
Only time will tell.
I had a great time meeting new faces and telling people about Nellie's Cottage.
I loved teaching my album class and watching the smiles after the project was complete.
In our society we tend to equate the worth of something in terms of money.
Is that really accurate?
Don't some things transcend the definition of "worth it"?
Yes! People always do, and I am in the people business:)

Nellie's Cottage is all about people. memories, and happiness, and that makes all the effort, sleepless nights and even my super stiff, tired body all worth it!

p.s. just don't ask me if I am ready to do this again!

New Years Goals on display

Somethings are worth doing.
Somethings are worth repeating.

A couple of years ago I created an album display of new years goals.
I saw it everyday, it inspired me everyday.
Were my efforts perfect...No!
However having a visual reminder was definitely a help in my quest for progress.
Hurray for progress!

It was satisfying taking a photo shoot of my goals, and fun to create the acrylic album pages.
This project can be put together like a regular album instead of on a bulletin board.
