Getting ready for retreats is quite the project!
My hubby helped a couple of times and said
"Is getting ready for these things always this much work?"
 Yes!...but I love my job:)
See this post where I wrote new words to "Twas the night before Christmas" about getting ready for retreats:)

I do random drawings for girls nights during the year and giveaway scrapbooking & crafting supplies each week on my facebook page:)

Retreat Giveaway...year 4!

It is that time...for our Nellie's Cottage anniversary and our annual retreat giveaway! This year is especially great because of our new expansion. We built a new large 650 sq.ft. room for projects, parties, and conferences. We also renovated our cottage next door, now called Flossie's, which sleeps 16 in 5 different bedrooms. Flossie was Nellie's sister! We are now able to accommodate large retreat groups, up to 24 guests. Nellie's Cottage is charming, cozy, and the perfect place to escape, relax and renew yourself! It is the best of what home should be, a place to create and connect with friends and family.

This year I decided to spread the love a little bit more and giveaway 4 retreats with 4 guests each!

Each winner will receive FREE accommodations for 2 nights for 4 guests.
Each winner may also invite up to 20 additional guests who will receive $50 off their individual booking! The more the merrier:)
Share this with all of your friends and get them to sign up as a follower...more chances to win:)

Nellie's Cottage is charming cozy and as one guest exclaimed "Heaven couldn't be better!"

Good Luck!

Winners will be chosen from my blog followers on January 29, my dad's birthday:) He was only 46 when he left this life. My siblings and I always celebrate his life in our own homes with one of his favorite treats like Snicker-doodles or Banana pudding. Links for those recipes below.

It's A Smash Life! A life project album

Life is messy, wonderful, and a very large PROJECT!

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this album the minute I saw it! This has been one of the most enjoyable and meaningful projects I have never done...just for me:) I simply filled the blank pages from my heart. I wrote my thoughts, goals, dreams without script or plan. I didn't worry about my handwriting, proper English or my writing style. This book for me:)
I was a bit silly thinking I could get so much done in problem... I just added 2013 to the font cover and now and adding 2014 as well! This is real life isn't it? keep skipping or plodding along, to keep trying, to continue evolving into the person we hope to be?
The icing on this project is the fun and totally random embellishments I added to the pages. No rules or skills apply to this type of creativity!

I am having a class this Saturday the 10th with this project as well as 2 other fun New Years projects.
Visit my facebook event for all the info!

My list of Smash life pages is unique to me, make yours fit you!
This is my list: (I did them in no particular order)

More of the best things
Home Improvement
Nellie's Cottage to do
Furniture updates
Wish List
Fix it or Sell it
Album projects
My Creative Space
50th Birthday wish list (creating now)

I began the book with my spiritual journey of study. I chose a hymn "More Holiness Give Me"
Each line of the hymn becomes a point of study. I wrote a post about this quest in January 2012
"More...of the best things"

It is a happy smash life:) Enjoy!

This Cinderella's WORK space:)

I am like Cinderella...forever consigned to the kitchen & laundry room! That may be a bit dramatic however, when I had four children at home it sure felt like it. Through the years I have set up my "office" space in various places but seem to always come back to my laundry room. It is private and no one else desires to claim it as their own...hahah!
I quite like the hum of the washer and dryer as I pay bills, blog, or edit pictures. It feeds my multitasking sense of accomplishment and ever present need to get more stuff done at once! I have an evolving picture gallery on the walls, some sayings I need to internalize, cute black bamboo boxes for storage, a cool metal calendar, and trusty scanner for scrapbook layouts.
The steady tic-toc of my two clocks is strangely calming for someone who feels like time is an enemy on most days. I do love my color scheme and the freedom I feel to add whatever suits my fancy in this space. Having a work space that is beautifully decorated lends a bit of fun to laundry piles, bills, and paper work...well almost:)

Details I love...

Metal Calendar with magnetic glass numbers.
Cricut creation
Favorite crystal ornament my daughter gave me.
Glitter frames...and the James Bond & girl:)

Bamboo boxes for: lost socks, cameras,
postcards for Nellie's, & extra gifts on hand
Pull out shelf perfect for my filing box
Printed from Pinterest...need to observe!
My dad's old 8 track tape box I use for receipts.
My dads old brief case I use for Nellie's Cottage files.

This space is "WORK" space...
but this Cinderella doesn't mind spending time here because it belongs to just me:)

Reese's Bars to ring in the New Year!

My college daughter had one dessert request while she was home for Christmas...Reese Bars!
I didn't get it done for Christmas because we were on the move to see the twins:) Last night for our New year treat I made these decadent, delicious, and deadly peanut butter chocolate bars...yum!

Never mind that it is committing calorie suicide with every sinful bite, or that an entire week of fat gram allotment is also contained in that same bite! Don't worry...It's a new year with a chance for resolutions concerning such inappropriate indulgences...hahahah!
Enjoy and good luck on that diet tomorrow:)

Reese's Bars

2 sticks of butter (you can cut out 1 half of 1 stick)
Pour over:
1 3/4 cup crushed graham crackers (easy in a blender)
1 cup peanut butter (I prefer creamy)
Mix well and spread in a 9x13 pan (no need to grease pan..duh!)

2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips in microwave
                              (mine takes 1 min & 20 seconds)
Spread over the peanut butter layer

Chill in fridge to set the bars, no need to continue refrigeration unless you prefer them cold.
